The First Day of Spring in Santa Fe

Santa Fe started the day with 8 inches of snow from last night's blizzard and only 18 degrees. However, by late afternoon the sun had melted much of the snow and the temperature reached 38 degrees. I spent the early morning in the Santa Fe Plaza getting some great snow shots and having a breakfast burrito at the Plaza restaurant. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can eat the green and red chili sauce at that hour of the morning. I nibbled on it but left most of it and had a banana instead.

I drove up to Los Alamos, stopping at White Rock and Bandelier National Monument. Surprisingly there was much less snow near Los Alamos so I was able to hike Tsankawi at Bandelier National Monument. Tsankawi was home to the Ancestral Tewa Pueblo people in the 1400s. They built homes of volcanic rock and adobe.

The ubiquitous Route 66 signs I've seen everywhere from Oklahoma to New Mexico.
