This is David deciding to fly to Arizona instead of driving with me in the car! I called him once I got to Chicago and he was still waiting for his flight. I crossed the Mississippi River around 4 p.m. then headed into a very flooded Iowa. It started to lightning and rain pretty steadily so I got off Route 80 and checked into a Holiday Inn Express in Coralville, Iowa near Iowa City. As I watched the flood reports on the local news I realized how bad it really was in the Rapid City and surrounding area. I saw the floodwaters from the highway but I didn't realize the amount of devastation in this area.
